Wingward is made by Sailfish Machine and is currently in development. This page describes the current development app. We will update it before public release as features and data handling change.
Saved species
Saved species and app preferences are stored locally on your device. Saving species does not require an account. You can remove saved species in the app.
Location
The current development app works without location permission and does not request your device location. You can explore the map manually.
Maps and network services
The geographic background uses MapLibre with online OpenFreeMap tiles, fonts, and map symbols. Loading the map sends requests for the viewed map area and these resources to the map provider. Network services may process technical request information, such as your IP address, to deliver their services. Bird data in the current prototype is illustrative and bundled with the app.
Support emails
If you email us, we receive your email address and the message you send. The in-app support link prepares an editable email with the app version and build number. Location and saved species are not attached automatically. We use the information you send to respond to your enquiry.
